To prepare high caliber participants in knowledge-based society; and to motivate creativity, excellence in research, education, and community service in health information system.

Program Goals

  • Provides graduates with solid and diversified knowledge and hands-on experience to prepare them as skilled health information specialists.
  • Provides an educational experience that develops the student’s intellectual ability in order to facilitate the development of independent judgment and problem-solving skills.
  • Provides graduates with various cognitive and communication skills that promote them to succeed in their professional careers through team work, proactive involvement, critical thinking, ethical behavior and responsibility, and influential roles in their organizations and communities.
  • Identifies opportunities for research in the field and utilize its results and findings in their profession practice.
  • Provides graduates with self-professional development and life-long learning skills.
  • Provides graduates with ability to pursue their postgraduate studies and succeed in academic and research careers.

Degree requirements

  • The department awards a Bachelor of Science degree in the field of health information systems, obtaining a bachelor’s degree in computer science requires the following: Successful completion of at least four academic years, which are equivalent to 137 accredited study units in the field of health information systems. So that the student successfully completes a number of units of study accredited from general education courses at the University of Knowledge, a number of units of study approved from compulsory courses in the College of Applied Sciences, and a number of units of study accredited from specialization courses in health information system.

Stages of the study plan

The study plan is divided into four years, as follows:

First year: One year (two semesters) introductory school in which science and general subjects are taught, in addition to the English language and programming principles.

The second year: One year (two semesters) in which the basic specialization courses are taught, including practical application using specific software according to the course description.

Third year: one year (two semesters) in which advanced specialization courses are taught, including practical application using specific software according to the course description.

Fourth year: one year (two semesters) in which advanced courses are taught that include the graduation project in two stages: the first phase in the first semester and the second phase in the second semester. As well as practical training of 400 hours (50 working days) at the training headquarters, which must be carried out in the departments of computing or information technology, whether in the government or private sector.
